Project 1 - High Volume Surface Mount
This particular customer was transferring their product to their new manufacturing plant in China. This however came with its challenges. Time scales are never what they seem during this type of transfer, and many problems were encountered during the process. This left the company with 2 major issues:
- Maintaining a product to market environment ensuring continuity of supply.
- Maintaining acceptable costs during this time.
Remploy were able to help on all fronts. With 4 high volume SMT lines, we were able to produce their product for an extended period of 10 months. During this time Remploy were producing in excess of 12000 boards per week, many of which had a degree of manual
input with cable connectors etc. The customer was extremely happy with the way in which
Remploy managed the whole process and as such have maintained the European manufacturing on their more complex and lower volume boards.
Project 2 - Wire Harness / looms
Previously using one of our competitors, it soon became apparent that the product was not being manufactured to the specifications laid down. Initially this gave cause for concern, as this innovative product was still within its development stage. The product itself is for subterranean use and supplies information and power on a target golf driving range, unfortunately they were suffering with data loss and severe water ingress. Remploy Electronics were approached as the customer was aware of our work within aviation and automotive. All existing harnesses were reworked by Remploy Electronics with great success, we were even able to reduce their costs by utilising techniques developed by Remploy in situations just like this. We have now successfully secured all of their cable and harness requirement, with product all over the world, and as this company grows so shall we.
Project 3 -Complete Product
The customers shown here all had one desire, to find a manufacturer that could take on not only the PCB but the complete build and test. This could involve sourcing bespoke items (metalwork, plastic moulding), procuring the complete bill of material or accepting certain items free issued (especially effective if you have pre arranged protected pricing).
Remploy Electronics will manufacture your product to whatever level you require, from free issued PCB's through to complete product. We were chosen to manufacture these products after the customer had searched the industry in vain for a suitable partner, with the required experience. As is the norm, since inception these particular customers, along with many others have stayed with Remploy Electronics.
Project 4 - Direct To End-User
More and more of UK industry is looking to reduce costs and maximise profit.
One sure way to do this is to have your product manufactured externally, and instead of having the product returned to you before dispatching to your customer, have the subcontractor pack and ship direct. Obviously this requires a high level of trust in the manufacturer, especially as you will be trusting your reputation in the hands of a third party. Remploy Electronics have several of such relationships. This particular customer is trusting Remploy to manufacture the complete product, test, pack including all manuals and ship direct to the end user where the product is on public display. This relationship has been in place for 3 years now and is in rapid growth. Their new upgraded version has just been launched at the 2008 Food Expo at the Birmingham NEC, with a very exiting time ahead.
